Another badge moron.
I followed someone who had put an M badge on his E46 and smiled extra wide when I blasted past in my proper M.
I blame BMW marketing, M badged 114i? WTF was Franz thinking. Everyone knows you buy an Audi if you want something to look fast but drive crap. A challenging drive in an Audi is trying to find radio 2 on the DAB with no signal.

Mind you, it's good engineering, too. After all, a straight six goes better into 3 pipes than it does into 4.

Reminds me of the old square Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X pack Special. car needed to be wide to accommodate the nomenclature. Just as well they didn't do the 4x4 Cosworth in that model, it would have been even wider. At least the badges were straight though.

That just looks bad........ Talking of M badges I had to take one off the back of mine after i bought it and the sticky tape in the grill at the front.
looks silly especially as mines not even an M car

My E89 3 litre "M" spec came with an M badge instead of the Z4 badge which presumably is down to the previous owner. I haven't bothered to get a Z4 badge yet but suppose I might but I'd hate to take it off and discover a dent! My only worry is that someone might mistake it for a 10 year old 80000 mile M ... it's a far better car than they ever were! I tried 2 M cars about 5 years ago and settled for a 3 litre Si (?) ... anyway it was far nicer to drive! The latest version is the perfect Z4. ...

Well that didn't work! I thought I was going to wind up dozens of old M owners (!) ... maybe they don't read the E89 posts? Does it really matter a tuppeny toss what people do to their cars? Half the people on here seem hell bent on altering what BMW spent millions on developing! If people want to make their cars individual then that's fine ... personally I think black grilles and black wheels look awful, and those little add-on wings, but I wouldn't tell anyone they shouldn't do it. As for Ms, I'm sure the owners are very proud of them but they shouldn't kid themselves they're better than new Z4s, well the 340bhp ones anyway! I ran an E-Type for a few years, both on the road and in light competition, mostly classic stuff in Italy, and I was very proud of that one but I never imagined that it was better than a modern Jaguar ... it all moves on and even just 10/11 years makes a difference. So, if anyone wants to cover their car in funny little badges, let them get on with it ... I think I'll leave my M badge on the boot and hope nobody confuses the car for an old one and I'm also considering sky-blue-pink for the wheels and grille. Oh, and winding up anal types at least means there are a few small pleasures left in life! ... :D

You miss the point of black grills. The BMW PERFORMANCE black grills add performance. Its in the name, they are estimated to add anywhere between 25-30rwhp to the 35is alone due to increased airflow and the BMW PERFORMANCE design. You are totally missing out ;)
