35i or 35is?

Post by SteveSmith » Tue Jun 06, 2017 8:29 pm

Is the DCT in the 35is completely different to the auto in my 28i? I believe the 28i has the ZF 8 speed which if I'm not mistaken is a single clutch auto box? I'm guessing DCT is Dual Clutch?

Thank you. I'm glad it's not the old Zeppelin builders in Friedrichshafen.

What's wrong with ZF?
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

What's wrong with ZF?
The ZF gearboxes in first generation Jaguar S Types had a high failure rate.

I was in a similar situation to yourself. I found a v low mileage 35i DCT (I loved the DCT on a previous M135i and didn't want a manual). I fitted de-cat downpipes (just passed an MOT today), K&N and took the car to rebellion automotive in Chichester(I dont work for them). They gave it a stage 2 remap and its now putting out 385BHP and 450lb/ft or 610NM torque.
Getting 25mpg (no change) and crusing at 80 is quiet in the cab.
I am very happy with the choice I made and absolutely love the car!

And your point is? :poke:

The generation used in the Z4 is two ahead of the Shaguaarrr its the ZF8HP45 released in 2009 vs ZF6HP26 released in 2000

I have to say I think that ZF box is fantastic...why anyone would want a manual when you can have the it all beats me..

Awesome, I am tempted by an auto next time around.

Where are people getting 35is cars from? There are only three on auto trader, none in the right colours.

Im guessing they are quite rare?

There were a handful on the bmw approved site.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?
