Roof service position

Post by cmp999 » Fri Jun 16, 2017 9:01 am

Hi,

I'm wanting to clean and lubricate (Gummi Pflege) the roof seals on a 2011 E89, can anyone tell me if there is a specific position where you can stop the roof to do this?

if I'm honest I feel nervous about opening/closing it part way and then stopping it, probably because of the different issues that people have had :o

Grateful for any advice, cheers

Last time I have lubricated my seals I left it open half way (with the boot in the up position), no issues at all since.

I've had mine in the half closed position a few times to clean rear screen and never had a problem

Just watch the boot lid as it will settle if you take a long time to lube seals.

Hi flybobbie, thank you for that, are we talking minutes or an hour or so?

Minutes.
Just need to "open" it every few minutes to keep it up, otherwise it might settle onto the roof if it's half way in the boot.
