"year 3", Sweetie, is Maniac's year of use, not necessarily the age of the tyre. :)

Oh damn yes of course, how could I miss it, Maniac buys 5 year old tyres for his 300 + bhp E89,.

Fairy Nuff.

In the case of Maniac's Michelins, then, time isn't a factor.

So, what does explain their appalling deterioration and performance? (For them to be worse than Bridgestone RFTs, it's got to be something major. :) )

I put Contis on my e89 as soon as I found out that the rft's would crack my rims ...and BMW Canada wouldn't cover the replacements. Like night and day, the improvement was staggering.
I put Michelin PSS on my 911 C2S in 2014, ran Sotto zeros for two winters and didn't switch them last winter coz I didn't drive it in the nasty crap winter we got ( it was a once every ten years bad winter). The MPSS tires are still great and they had a couple of track days on them too.
Sold the Z4 M Roadster and a 911 Carrera S now I have a 2021 Z4 3.0i

One word:

WOW, the ride is so much smoother, so much more responsive and complacent over bumpy roads. This literally has transformed the car, makes me realise how much the stock run flats nerf the handling and comfort of these cars....

Anyone on the fence, just do it.....
I have Pilot Sport 4 all round, just read the reviews or google best performance tyre 2017.

Buy from black circles, delivery only and get them fitted for a tenner a wheel locally.

I paid £190 for the front pair delivered and fitted 225/40/18, at ATS etc they are £300 fitted!!!!

I sold my 911 on Michelin PS2s in October 2017. They'd done 22k miles and still had at least 3mm all round. They were never quite as good as the Pirelli P Zero Rosso before them, but they lasted twice as long.

Something doesn't sound right with your tyres Maniac.

What date codes are on the tyres?

Where is the car stored?

What pressures are you running?

I have used them before and don't have a bad word to say about them in the dry, in wet and damp conditions they were good but I have used better tyres.

Bridgestone runflats were worse for everything though, dry grip, wet grip, comfort etc so something doesn't sound right.

I think I've already answered most of that above. Other than kept on the drive. The P Zeros were the best I've had. I suspect most of the issue is down to lack of use.

You carry on, I'm out, it's impossible to argue with an idiot, and you can't say I didn't try.
