get yaself a C110 scanner off ebay - about 30 quid - i have one its a godsend, turns airbag lights off, clears fault codes etc- its BMW specific - so wont work on any other marque.

I've just got the Carly for BMW and iOS app. Plugs in the OBD and connects to your phone WiFi. It's good, has a few limitations and costs £100+ but would certainly do what your after.

Although the one mentioned by jamie_z4 may be better @ £30.

Or see if someone in your area has one of these you could use?
