Has anyone actually tried the new 4 S then?

Very frustrating that Continental didn't supply a Contisport for this year's tyre test.
Best go and look at the German publications' tests and see if they completed the two.

Lovely car!

I've just fitted Rainsport 3's to my 28i. Obviously no where near the same power but they're very good on mine especially compared with the Bridgestone run flats.

Right, I have a plan for tyres now!

I'm interested to know what the car would look like with black wheels. I did a quick photoshop which gives some idea but very difficult to form an opinion...

I was looking at tyre choices and having used winter tyres on rwd cars before, decided two sets of wheels is the way to go on this car.

The Clio we have is on Yoko AD08rs, so despite being fwd I'm sure it will leave a lot to be desired if it actually snows. The Z4 is the nicer of the two cars so it will be nice to know we can use it year round safely, without having to watch the weather.

So this evening I'm off to pick up a set of black CSL style wheels with good winter tyres. I can pop them on to decide whether I like the black or not and then buy some new summer tyres over the winter or in spring without any rush.

Looking forward to trying them on the car...

^ thank you

Got the winter wheels collected last night, to stave off the boredom of journey I challenged myself to complete the journey in £25 or less. With 184 miles to cover this would be perfectly achievable, but in the Clio 200, somewhat of a challenge!! It really is poor on fuel!

Despite closures of the M5 and M6 and a total trip of just over 200 miles, I rolled onto the local petrol station forecourt with the onboard computer reading 36mpg (this is a staggering achievement in the Clio!), filling to the first click, what would my 'score' be...

What a rockstar life I lead!!!

I'm chuffed to bits with the wheels, the seller apologised for confusion having specified they were non-staggered fitment, upon retrieving them from his garage he discovered they were indeed staggered so even better for me! :)
They look to be in great condition, I will have to pop a couple on and take some pictures!

--------

An update I missed from the weekend, I gave the Z4 a much deserved interior deep clean, nourishing and protecting all the leather. It looks beautiful now and has worn very well indeed for 7 years and 50k, I would think this perfectly acceptable for a 1 year old car. :)

It's certainly very clean inside and out! I'm looking forward watching this thread over the coming months.

Thanks, I must try not to let it turn into too much of a project, but I will enjoy making little improvements and making sure it's properly maintained.

The little unit is a Belkin car audio connect, that allows Bluetooth streaming and calls via the aux port. Oddly given the rest of the spec the car doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity so the little Belkin takes care of that.

Aaaaand I've bought another set for summer tyres!

It's eBay's fault, there were some almost identical wheels in clearance so it shouldn't cost any more than getting the original wheels refurbed bh the time they're sold.

Just need to be patient and wait until next March to put them on! We'll seee how that goes...

On the tyre front I had decided that the Continental Premium was my first choice as an excellent all rounder with exceptional wear rates reported.
Unfortunately I couldn't find them in 255/35, however a quick mail to Continental and they tell me they are in the pipeline.

A good reason to be patient! :)

Tried the 'golf tee' exhaust mod this eve, think it will be staying. There's some nice burble at low speeds and under more gentle acceleration it's nice to hear a bit more! No discernible drone or intrusive noise at motorway speeds either.

Quick, easy and for me a success!

New summer wheels arrived 18 hours after I ordered them! Impressive! :o

Sliiightly different to the winter wheels but almost the same, both made by Cades and the specs are the same bar a 2mm lower offset on the rear of the summer wheels.

I weighed a couple of the wheels as I remember Cades Eros 15" wheels being heavy, whilst not lightweight they're about what I'd hoped at c. 10kg each.
Somewhat bizarrely the 9" rears are actually 100g lighter than the fronts!?? :?

I'm doing much better with not making a project out of this than I expected!! A house move has done a great job of restricting disposeable income!

Had the rear brakes done at the main dealer yesterday (respectable £150), whilst I was there I asked them to price up retrofitting Bluetooth and changing the front kidney grilles and lower grille surrounds to black...

The Bluetooth as expected was prohibitively expensive, the kidney grilles in high gloss black a thoroughly acceptable £60 with free fitting and I'm waiting to hear back on the lower grille surrounds.

Hoping they're sensible money too as it would be nice to replace some silver with black at the front to complement the black wheels.

Here's one albeit with the M Sport bumper but I like the black over the silver currently fitted:

Black kidney grilles and lower grille surrounds have been ordered, going to attempt them myself when I put the winter wheels on next weekend.

For anyone interested I put together a video of my first post-supercharger trackday in my Honda-powered MX5. It's been a two year struggle getting the charger on and all working, so great to finally use it! :D
