2007 SLK 55 AMG VS 2012 Z4 sDrive35is
Hi everyone real quick, tomorrow night there will be a drag race (drag strip) between a friends Z4 against an SLK AMG. I tried to do research and as far as I got are
55 AMG - 0-60 4.3 @ 12.8 1/4
Z4 35is - 0-60 4.3 @ 12.9 1/4
I got these from a 0-60 website but upon researching both cars apparently many results are different. I just want to know who will most likely win? I'm betting 100$ on the Z4 but the AMG guy is stating he will win
Come on y'all please don't make me lose 100 bucks

It will be down to the drivers.
Who gets off the line better, how smooth the gear changes are and when they change.
Unless both drivers are fairly seasoned on the drag strip the cars won't matter.

Wow so both cars must be real identical then huh? And it must be true that the Z4 can go 0-60 in 4.3 seconds?! That's only 0.2 sec away from an M3/4!

The C63 will probably spank the Z4 as after 60mph, just brute force and ignorance.Exodus wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2017 6:59 am Hi everyone real quick, tomorrow night there will be a drag race (drag strip) between a friends Z4 against an SLK AMG. I tried to do research and as far as I got are

Interesting competition though, send the video to Clarkson and his team......
Are both cars auto?
Both have 'launch' mode?

If the Z4 has been warmed sufficiently beforehand it'll let the guy select Launch mode, plus it's got a temporary overboost, enough for a drag race, but the car has to be at correct temps.
No idea if the Merc has launch, you'd think so though.
Make sure you post the results and not just bugger off after we've replied to you..

Friend of mine recently bought a 2016 C63, I managed to get a go.. GOD that thing is ferocious off the line, AND through the gears, traction light comes on on every change up to 5th.. However, it is TRICKY to get it off the line quickly, as there is TOO much power, so to speak. So yes, it'll be more down to the drivers than the cars I reckon...

Thought it did. Going to make it easier to use all the torque from that V8 bomb under the bonnet.Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:58 pmThe AMG does.. My m8 was NOT impressed with me leaving "11's" of his precious rubber on the deck

Since the cars on paper are so close - the driver is the biggest factor. Both these cars are big bhp and easily loose a second just spinning.
Below is an video of me vrs v8
On paper an e92 m3 should kill my 2ltr - but he got to much power down to quick. Launch can win or lose an drag race.

Can you please post times?
What fuel they using & and any engine mods?

2007 SLK 55 AMG VS 2012 Z4 sDrive35is
Update: the Z4 driver has not yet replaced his tires to Michelin PS2. The rematch is going down tomorrow!
As far as I know: there's no Manuel in the SLK55 cars, it's a 7 speed automatic but no DCT type. The Z4 is the 35is with the DCT! The AMG guy has performance tires while the Z4 didn't and the times were
55 AMG: 13.0 1/4
Z4: 13.4 1/4
The Z4 claims he wasn't set up and wants a rematch!
@Twin Turbo: both cars are stock but what I'm curious is if these two cars are exact exact on performance! They both also agreed to do some roll
Races but I think the AMG takes it
I'm a little sad because I was hoping the BMW has a chance against it since it's not even a M car and there is no modern "m" Z types!
