Any one tried the ECU transmission reset on their Z4?

Any one tried the transmission ECU reset? Apparently over time the ECU in the trans learns your driving style and that is what it keeps in memory. The throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts and personalizes to your particular driving style.

Instructions from bimmerfest:

DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY DURING THIS PROCEDURE
Here it is; How to do a TBA: Throttle Body Adaptation reset.
Resetting the Adaptive Driver Memory for the transmission.

Works with any car that has Driver Adaptive Electronic Controlled Transmission.

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter turns over. BMW: press start button – foot off brake - all idiot lights on.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position. BMW: All idiot lights on.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off position". BMW: foot off brake press start button - all idiot lights now off (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait a full 2 minutes for a full electronic alignment. Don't remove the key.
6. Start engine, drive the car, notice the difference.

Although seen somewhere else the accelerator has to be held down for 30 seconds, not 5.

Tempted to try this on my 35is, will post back any findings later.
Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better

Yep, tried. It added 40hp and an 8th gear to mine, sprouted aero cills too. :D

No, not for me either. But then again your 35iS with dct is not lacking.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

Think that procedure is just a myth but happy to be proved wrong.

There is a DCT reset which clears the transmission adaptations related to clutch pack wear but this needs to be done using either INPA or ISTA. Not something which you want to do unless you've changed hardware.

My old E39 had a clonky 1st to 2nd gear change and this was suggested for that problem...didnt fix it but ZF in Daventry were very helpful, told me it needed a firmware update which my indie did for £30..cured the issue
