Golf Tee mod no difference at all? 35is

Post by sunnydays » Sat Aug 05, 2017 11:05 am

So just done the golf t mod, there is literally no difference. So im now thinking my exhaust flap could be stuck?

Where is this located / how can I tell if it is open or closed?

Could someone also please verify the steps for the mod to ensure everything had been done correctly.

Thanks

Pretty sure the flap is in the tail pipe, you should be able to see it!

If you can see it, it goes across the exhaust when closed-blocking the gases from escaping. When open it lets the gases pass around it

You'll hear it close a few seconds after start up if it's working. If there is no change in the exhaust note it's stuck.

If you can't see it then I presume that it is in the open position, there is hardly any difference when on idle but certainly when you driving especially at low revs. I wouldn't say there is huge difference though !!

Mine was stuck closed I think, blocked off the lines, closed, put them back on, closed, put it in sport mode and revved it and it may have opened a bit. Very difficult to see it, but easy to feel with a screwdriver or something down the tailpipe.

I disconnected the actuator, manually pulled the actuator rod downwards (with fingers, not too tight), which opened the valve. Has since remained open with the actuator disconnected and hoses blanked.
