Is BMW paying for them now or still issues to be had?

Hi, I had a cracked 19" rear wheel 3 months outside of warranty (low mileage at 20k as well) it passed the buckle test with less than 0.5mm deflection but bmw didn't want to know.
I got offered a replacement wheel at 10% discount but opted to get it welded instead & fitted non rf tyres.
Slightly disappointing but not unexpected :|

Hi Rob

Thanks for the reply.
I would have thought considering it's been on watchdog and a law suit in the US they'd be dealing with it by now!

Didn't they strengthen 326 alloys past a certain year? I have 326 19" wheels on a 2014 28i M sport. I have hit some killer pot holes. It is a concern. I was hoping 2014 models may have had a slightly different design. I am sure I read it somewhere ..or was it a dream :|

Redesign was in 2012 to add a step in the lip and thicken overall. Shouldn't have any issues!

It's the pre-2012 cars that worry me, was looking at one with 19" 296s :?

I wonder if its also down to which dealer handles the claim, I had a Merc E class with corroded rims, just out of warranty and the dealer in Cambridge at the time liaised with Mercedes who offered me 25% off a new set of wheels which I declined. This year my 2 1/2 year old E-Class had small signs of corrosion on the amg wheels, the dealer in Reading considered it bad enough to try a claim and Mercedes provided four new 19" alloys. Feels like a bit of a pig in a poke to me.

Just had mine in under warranty for a nasty whining noise coming from the engine bay, they're still 'stripping to diagnose' at the moment, but whilst it's in they've found 2 cracks in my rear near side wheel. It's a 64 plate with 6 months warranty left and They're not replacing under warranty, so it's a £615 bill for me :x currently searching for four new NON runflat tyres!

Its a poor show for sure , id seriously consider going for 245 35 or 235 35 tyre profile( assuming 19s ) if not lowered significantly from standard spec

Is there a report/evidence of a welded wheel cracking around the weld?

(Obviously, just because a wheel's cracked and been welded doesn't mean it can't crack somewhere else.)
