Went to the dealer yesterday... £150 just for the stalk and £450 to supply and fit! Extortionate! I see that people have got the stalk for £60. Where was this from?

FYI - My Z4 is a 09/2004 one so it is just about old enough for the easy cruise upgrade! Thanks!

you were probably quoted £150 for the retrofit kit - which includes the stalk and the cowl and the wiring... Check the first page of this thread for the part number the stalk alone

They're taking you for a ride!

I went into a BMW dealer, quoted the part number (1x Cruise Control Stalk - EU BMW Part Number: 61 31 6 940 989), the BMW employee checked it on his system, and I was given a cost of £62.50 inc VAT. That was approx 4 weeks ago at a BMW dealer in Glasgow.

Try a different dealer?

They're defo quoting the kit price, as above have said.

it's 62.50 inc VAT from three dealers near me, so although the pirce has gone up £2, it seems to be a standardized cost across the board.
go back and call em muppets :P

I seeeeeee - yeah you're definately right - £150 for the kit. I'm stopping by tomorrow to pick up cup holders so I will ask for the exacty part number. I don't think he was taking me for a ride for the kit price (although it is overpriced) but the amount they were charging for labour was stupid considering it would take less than an hour!

Hello and welcome :D

Your car is built after October 2004 so wont have the wiring loom present. There is some debate on here about how to proceed - ie what pins etc, but you will need the wiring loom (think the part no has been added to first post...)

Well Santa was kind enough to leave me a cruise control switch under the tree and the wiring harness is on its way!
Thinking of doing a step by step photo log as I fit the loom, unless its a complete sod to do. :tumbleweed:

What engine you got in Z4 then?

Still trying to find someone on here that has managed to retrofit to a N52 engine and get it to work. :(

I have just looked on BMWFANS and they have the exact same part number listed, so I dont see why it would be any different to fit then mine is going to be?

I had a look under the cowl last night to double check the pre wire wasnt there. It wasnt so Im going ahead with the retro fit. But after reading as much as my little brain can take in on the subject I still have a couple of questions.

1. Has anyone on here successfully retro fitted cruise on a post '04 plate M54 engine?

2. Are the PDF instuctions on here ; http://thegannet.bulldoghome.com/CCInstructions.pdf

completely correct about which pin to connect to the DME with the M54 etc?

Those instructions are the ones the dealer printed off forme when I bought the retrofit kit... mine had the wiring loom already fitted so was as doddle for me though...
