Completed the cruise retrofit last night, It went like a dream, Every part that I had to disassemble/reassemble went in with a satisfying and positive CLICK!

If anyone else is thinking of cruise and has a post '04 plate with a M54 engine, I will happily try to answer any questions you have on this install.

Hi,

Dealer said I would need to re-program car on this to ensure it works correctly.

Is this true? I though it would just work straight away?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi, well mine didnt need to be re programmed just plug in and play.
im pretty sure you dont need to (which engine have you got out of interest??),

its just standard dealer procedure to say everything needs re programming!

I fitted mine tonight on a 2003 3.0L. All went well. However, I forgot to disconnect the negative battery cable. Took it for a run and all seems well. Was I lucky?

as the others have said.. coding is a untruth.
Ask them the verify with your vin number that it definately needs coding, and after they say yes, ask them to check on the computer.. and they'll see it doesn't :headbang:

Lenny Kravitz cranked to max does it for me. I saw ELO many moons ago with their out of the blue tour. Fanbriltastic, especially when spaceship came down in cloud of dry ice.

Hi, I wanted to add the cruise control to my Z4, but now I’m a little confused :?
My Z4 is a 2.2 with a registration date of March 05, but with a build plate giving a Dec 04 build date.
I purchased the control stalk 61 31 6 940 989 but didn’t buy the wiring loom kit…
The reason for this was that I had removed the steering column trim and found what I believed to be connection plug X72 tied back into the loom - just as the guides suggest.
When I freed the plug and compared it to the control stalk I got a surprise ...
I didn’t fit … :headbang:
This is a picture of the plug from the side
Image
And this is looking at the pins end on
Image
The issue is this …
The stalk has a socked with 4 pins
The plug is a socket with 3 pins

What to do ?

I could buy the loom kit, but do I really need to ?
I know that the loom kit has the correct plug, but note that only 3 wires are attached.
Question is, are these the three wires I have ?
Can I adapt the plug to somehow fit ? or is this something else entirely ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Think the build date was upto Oct04 so you need the wiring loom which is about £18+vat

yep your build date is after the Oct04 cut off so you will need the loom :(

maybe that plug you have in your car is for the Multi-Function Wheel?
