Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
So just to clarify on this matter that I posted in another thread (great write up btw):
1) for a 8/04 built, this is an easy retrofit because the wiring is there in place
2) I need only the specified part number
3) I have to make a hole in original cowel for the stalk to fit
4) No programming is required, even if your car is manual and there is no need for the new gauges, etc.
What is unclear to me though is when I gave him the car part number he flatly said that cruise control for this model is not available. Why would that be if you guys say its so easy to fit?..

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
When was your car built? If it was prior to the 2004 date then he's a filthy liar
I was told by my local BMW stealer I would need to spend £160 'reprogramming my CPU' when I ordered the MFSW controls
If you really are paranoid you can remove the cowling in 30 seconds and check the wiring (behind where the cut out would be on the left hand side of the cowling next to the indicator stalk), it'll be taped off against the rest of the steering wheel loom.

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
1) Yes in theory - but take the cowel of as per step 1, and look for the wire shown in step 2kartman wrote:So just to clarify on this matter that I posted in another thread (great write up btw):

2) Yes, if the wire is in place, else you will also need the harness.
3) Yes, but it's very easy. When you take the cowel off, you'll see BMW have nicely drawn the outline of the Cruise control hole on your cowel for you to trace around!
4) No need for reprogramming and no need for guages or anything - there is no display related to the cruise control.

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
kartman - if you pm me an email address I can even send you the BMW retrofit instructions that detail the parts required for a post 10/04 model.
They clearly show exactly the differences pre and post the change date and the harness required.
Dealers sometimes do have idiots on the desk. This week on ordering a new bracket for the wing/bumper mount I was called to be advised my roof bars were now in stock

Re: Retrofit Cruise Control
guys whats the part number for the extra loom needed for post-04 cars?
sk93 - needs putting in the original post if we find it, otherwise this is limited and people can only use the whole retrofit kit.

It's been added to the OP are requested, however I don't know the part, and as I reemed of a list of over 30 parts to Sytner earlier, I don't think they'll be very helpful if I ring back today with another price quote
