OEM alarm retrofit

Post by Smokin » Mon Jun 22, 2009 1:34 am

Is this difficult? I've seen it offered sub $150 (but then you have to pay the dealer to reprogram the keys). I know it's prewired but don't want to crack into something too difficult.

There were a rash of break-ins today in the parking lot and not one car had an alarm to scare the @#$$%(*& off. :-(

Check post 9.

I would have done it myself if I did it again.

Thanks. Is it possible to get the interior motion sensor in the retrofit? Being a coupe, that would be nice.

Is the placement of the tilt sensor the same for M and non-M?

Amazing that it is not standard at your side of the pond. We can not even get the car insured without an alarm ...
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo

Isn't it though? My '93 Probe GT had an alarm. Neither of my BMWs has. Hubbys pre-owned X5 has it but I'm not sure if it was standard or optional.
