Airbag light...
I know there is a thread, but anyway...
Had the airbag light on for months. Bought an airbag code reader, specifically for BMW'S SRS system. Plugged it in and it came up with this:
Code 38 in the instruction manual gives 2 explanations.
- Control unit fault, swinging voltage test.
- Firing circuit, head airbag, front left side.
Anyone have any idea what these mean? Or whether you've had the same code on yours?
Cheers.

Re: Airbag light...
I got the same code after unplugging the airbag to fix something in the door. I unplugged it without unplugging the battery first. Light's been on ever since, and I have the same tool as yours which fails to turn the airbag light off.

Re: Airbag light...
Thats good info as i had the doorcard off (and side as airbag) to repair the door membrane. Maybe that's the issue?
Looks like it needs a specialist to sort it out, either way.

Re: Airbag light...
Let me know how it turns out. My airbag light is still on and I couldn't shut it off with INPA (not sure if I used INPA correctly) even after I made sure the connection was good.

Re: Airbag light...
Ben, I know it might not help, but if you're ever in the area feel free to drop me a line and I can very quickly hook up the diagnostics and see if we can clear the light.

Re: Airbag light...
This is a really annoying one, I did the same.
Neither DIS nor INPA could remove the light.

did you read memory in DIS to see what was wrong, then clear memory should clear light unless you have a faultchriswoodward wrote:This is a really annoying one, I did the same.

Re: Airbag light...
Yep, I don't get a fault code, well bar an interior light short circuit to ground.
