Rear centre console trim cracked
Hi all
Had the car out yesterday, enjoying a drive in the lakes.
One of the times we pulled over I noticed the rear centre console trim had cracked.
It wasn't hit by anything so I am assuming the heat from the sun (it was really warm) and perhaps bouncing over some of the back road potholes has caused the crack!?
Anyone else had this happen without it being struck or hit?
Thanks folks.

Yes, Sorry.
It's just to the right of the rear centre tunnel cover, above the oddments box .... and it seems to be growing!

Find it odd that it seems to be following the line of the moulded piece behind/to the right of it.
Might actually email BMW customer service and ask for their advice before shelling out for a new one only for the same thing to happen again.

I can't imagine that cracking like that without some kind of trauma

I know, we were shocked to say the least
Nothing happened on the drive though.
Set off about lunchtime, 2 hours into the drive stopped to put a bit more sun cream on as it was getting really hot, turned to go into the oddments box (as BMW call it...) and noticed the crack.

Just wondered what might be causing it.
Maybe taking a few corners too quickly (well you have to don't you!) and the car flexing a little too much...I don't think this would break any internal trim but just can't get my head around how this would happen.
I've seen a couple on ebay at the moment, not sure on the condition of them. Have asked for closer photos.
Cheers

You can get replacements on ebay for £20-30 quid.
BMW won't want to know, that I can be sure of.

Bit late to the party but my Z4M Roadster has developed the same crack - Identical to the photo above. I have tried to source a new console section from BMW but despite been on order since Sep 2018, there is no sign of the part appearing. I have been reluctant to buy off ebay as I am paranoid about being ripped off. Can anyone who has sourced a replacemnt part please advise me of the supplier used and quality of the part? Ideally, I'd prefer a specialist that will source and fit the part as I am reluctant to fit this myself.

It's a fairly basic piece of plastic. How can you be ripped off? Quarry motors will most likely have this piece in stock, so may be worth giving them a call

There's a forum member breaking a facelift 2.0i - you may get one from him:- viewtopic.php?f=7&t=113342
Just so you know you can't use the Private Message facility until you have made 3 posts.
But we'd love to see some photos of your M Roadster.
