Aux problem

Post by Welshlad1 » Fri Aug 18, 2017 4:04 pm

Hi All

I've got a BMW Z4 2003. It's got the business CD unit fitted.

I heard you can buy an aux cable so you can plug a phone into it to play music. I purchased this one and installed but there is no AUX option when pressing mode. I have heard you can modify the cable with resistors.

Is there a ready made, plug and play cable I could buy or am I going to have to modify the one I've already bought?

Cheers
James

I bought one from 'friuty car cables' on fleabay. Search "BMW-Z4-E84-E85-X5-E53-AUX-Mode-Cable-3-5mm-Female-Dash-Mount-Socket-OEM-Style". Works great

I bought one like the one you have and it would not recognise aux on display. Turned out the wires in the connector were in the wrong slot. I had an old aux cable, took the wires out and put them in the correct slots and all worked fine.

Aux problem

Hi there just wanted to quickly ask does this cable sound good through the car as I have fitted a cable to mine from eBay and some of the songs I play through the car using aux sound terrible really tinny and no deep sound like you get from the radio is this a thing or do I just have a dodgy cable.
Cheers

The sound is ok but not same quality as CD, you need to turn volume on your device up full to get decent sound!

I connect via a Bluetooth device & stream from my mobile. My system is only the 6 speaker basic one but seems just as good as using the radio imo. :)
