Fitting Z4M bumper to 2004 E85

Post by olsonn » Sun Oct 01, 2017 3:40 pm

Into the final stages of face lifting my 2004 E85 I have already fitted my facelift front bumper and today it was time to fit the rear Z4M bumper. I thought it would be a simple bolt off bolt on change but it doesn't seem quite that easy. Will I need to trim the bumper to fit or is there something else I need to do???

Thanks for that I have a set in the garage as I was going to simply put a facelift rear end on, just need to get hold of a set of surrounds, hopefully in sterling grey. Do I need to do anything on the bottom as the holes seem to be in different places

You won't get the surrounds in Sterling as it was a pre facelift colour only.

Hi Mike

Well I don't know what this is that I have here, I bought it as a Z4M bumper, but obviously the number doesn't tally so not really sure where to go next. Will have to phone the stealers tomorrow to see if it makes any sense to them. Thanks for the heads up on the surrounds, looks like another respray job. I haven't forgot I need to phone you about the keys, just a little pre occupied with this at the moment

That's not on realoem either.
Can you post a picture of it. There's enough folks on here with many years of experience of the E85/6/9 so someone should recognise it on sight

The one in the link is a US spec bumper with the additional side markers. Does yours have these?

They have not been fitted but there are markings for them on the inside of the bumper

Don't know how a US spec bumper ended up in the UK, but I feel a lot happier now

You have to modify the long bracket under the rear lights to get the bumper skin to fit, or buy the facelift version.
