Dreaded ABS pump/ module issues
Used ECU Testing first on a 2004 Sprinter & last year for my 22k miles Z4M Roadster. In both cases a great job, with lifetime warranty. No issues & no fault lights since.
Not a load if brads .... highly recommended !!!

Dreaded ABS pump/ module issues
I used ECU Testing to fix stuck bushes on my e86's ABS unit. Great service.enzed4 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 9:49 pm It's not usually both pump and ECU module that are faulty. ECU testing should be able to determine which it is. If it's the pump, most likely stuck brushes, easy fix. If it's the module, should hopefully also be repairable, but more expensive. Unlikely you'll need to go anywhere near the 2,500 new replacement path, but it's scary times while you await their diagnosis.
Good luck
Movement of the unit from the removal from car & shipping freed up the stuck bushes. ECU testing tested the unit before repair and found it working, & called me to check if I still wanted to pay for the repair. I trust them. Still had the repair done as the bushes only get more gummed up over time, and once repaired they no longer fail in the same way.
Hope you get good news from them!
Ducklakeview; based on the top quality roof motor relocation work, ABS unit repair could get you more regular work, with a loyal forum following! I'd have asked had I known back then.

I had to buy a new unit, £2090 from main dealer for my '07 2.0 but you are welcome to my old broken one if any of the parts are of use to you, as someone mentioned, use the firm in Derby, I had a bad experience with BBAE86montego wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 7:48 pm Hi all,
In a real nasty situation with the ABS pump/ module. Mine has died and seems it cannot be repaired. I'm in dire need of a replacement part since BMW want a lofty £2500.
My part is seen in the images below.

Would anybody know if I have to use the same numbers or could I get a different part number and get its software refreshed? Also, does anybody know where I could get one from? The confusing part of this matter is down to the part numbers... I believe the 'overall' part number for both the pump and module combined is: 34516778490. However as you can see on the pictures it has other part numbers on the module (10.0961-0829.3/ 10.0614-3758.3) and the pump (3451-6778238-01). Thus funding a right one seems near impossible.
Huge thanks in advance for any help that can be given.
I'm sure this thread will become useful as it seems finding an ABS pump/ module for 2006-2009 cars is pretty much impossible. All our cars are getting to the age where they will need replacing soon, so any help will hopefully benefit everybody.

That sounds great, apologies about the late reply. I'm still waiting to hear from the firm in derby, but if I hear bad news (I'm praying every living second for good news) I will most certainly take you up on that very kind offer!greg1953 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2017 7:26 amI had to buy a new unit, £2090 from main dealer for my '07 2.0 but you are welcome to my old broken one if any of the parts are of use to you, as someone mentioned, use the firm in Derby, I had a bad experience with BBAE86montego wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2017 7:48 pm Hi all,

I repaired one of mine earlier in about 90 mins at ZERO cost. My advice is NOT to pay stupid money for something you can do yourself.. See my post viewtopic.php?f=2&t=101022

A further development that you guys may be able to help me out with. I think my ECU is toast. However the pump is fine. I've found another ECU online that would need reprogramming to my car. Would I be able to use my pump and a new ecu providing the part numbers match?

OP - Yours HAS been previously split and repaired, I can tell from the photos. Happy to have a look at it for you if you can get it to me?

Well I've been told by ECU testing that the ECU is dead but the pump is fine. Are you able to look at ECUs?

HAve they had it, if so why haven't they repaired it? It's quite rare for the ECU's to fail. 99% of the time it's the pump due to lack of use.E86montego wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 4:15 pm Well I've been told by ECU testing that the ECU is dead but the pump is fine. Are you able to look at ECUs?
