Engine misfire codes

Post by Magicarcher » Wed Nov 15, 2017 9:16 pm

Just hooked up ISTA-D to investigate a CDL issue, in the process I discovered two engine misfire codes:

002742 DME:Misfire Cylinder 1 (SAE code = P0301)
002892 DME:Misfiring (SAE code = P0313)

Neither are currently present, both occurred within 16km of each other

The first code gave a clue as "Damaging Exhaust Gas after engine start up sequence", fault would not cause MIL light
The second code gave a clue that it was "detected at low Fuel level 7L"

Does anyone have any clue what these codes mean or what could have been the problem, my Z4 has not been running as smoothly recently and fuel consumption has dropped 15%.

Misfire is most likely a coil pack issue. You can try moving number1 to a different cylinder and see if you get a fault repetition on the new cylinder. If it is a coil pack it's best to replace all 6.
