I think Paddy is correct... mine went due to an emergency stop... but was fixed under stealer warranty. Not sure how much the job costs to fix through a non-stealer route...

Sorry to hear your news OP.
But if it is the ABS pump these people have had good reviews by members:-

Yup, sounds like ABS pump - If you don't have a code reader, try slamming on where safe and see if you get a wheel locking up..
If you do have a reader, the codes will probably be;
5DF0 - hydraulic unit pump motor and
5DF1 - hydraulic unit pump motor connector
In which case it can be repaired, in about 2 1/2 hours including removal, refitting and bleeding.

Could be ABS sensor, mine was. OEM sensor £100, and an easy fix

be nice if it was..had these lights pop up on my daily was and it was indeed a sensor..relatively cheap fix, not quite sure why everyone always assumes it has to be the abs pump..do that many go pear shaped on zeds?
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

Probably just as much as sensors go. Also a known issue.
Thats why diagnosing starts with code reading and not with guessing

Bit more about the scenario. The abs was indeed working approx 10mins prior to this. It went off when I stamped the brake to avoid a cat in the road and worked as intended. Then an extra 90kgs was added to the car in luggage and a passenger. The brake that fired the abs is knackered, the caliper is pissed so I'm guessing it's cooked the abs ring for that wheel.
Anyway I'm tired of guessing. I've ordered a diagnostic tool i910 from Bavarian Dominator to pull the info. If it's a ring / sensor epic £22 fix. If it's pump it's off to Mike for a pump repair and roof motor relocation.
Will update when the kit arrives.

The abs ring won't be affected by the caliper. Code read definitely needed.Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 8:42 am Bit more about the scenario. I havo no hesitation in recommending Mike (Ducklakeview) if your abs pump needs repairing. Mike repaired mine last Saturday in a couple of hours and now works perfectly.

Mine started doing that when the battery was knackered and was fixed by fitting a new one (£50 from Tanya) most garages or tyre shops will do a free battery check so that where I'd start especially if you have had any other random warning lights or electrical gremlins.Monkeydonkeyratmagic wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 6:55 pm So today was paintball day.

These cars particularly earlier models don't take well to a weak battery for some reason

Quick update before my scanner comes tomorrow.
Abs is working on all wheels. Took a while but I got it to work on all 4 wheels several times. (Scabby bit of road covered in man holes, wet, stamp brake feel results) should be interesting.
