Replaced mine today, took about 30 seconds. Fingers crossed it fixes the problem!

Any success? I seem to have developed a fault with the alarm recently.

Just disconnect the switch, and if your car alarm does not go off, then it is the switch

Well, I don't think my alarm has gone off since I changed the switch. I'm hopeful that the problem is now sorted :D
Just the leaky door left to get sorted now. Hopefully that will just be the door membrane.

Arg, I'm still getting my alarm trigger for no apparent reason! And slightly worryingly it doesn't sound the siren. So either that is faulty too or some sneaky individual disconnected it rather than fix the cause! Anyone got any ideas?

Hi guys.

After a long and frustrating search I am a proud owner of a black Z4 Coupe! Used this site a lot to help me out when deciding which car to get, so thanks everyone!

I’ve had the car for a week and am having the same alarm problems as other members on this thread. Just tried investigating the bonnet switch, but was a bit too dark for me to figure out what was what. How do you take it out? Is it as easy as just pulling it out?? Will have a look in the day time at the weekend. Will keep you guys updated!

Thanks!

Zed (yes that’s my real name :D)

gannet wrote:I nearly asked the same question when replacing mine.... til I looked under the bonnet :D

for the record though - middle of the car under the windscreen where the two cross braces meet... there is a switch... unplug it :D
Hopefully easy to fix

I have a 56 plate 3ltr Si Sport coupe, 60,000 miles, had the same problem, at first the car alarm would go off shortly after locking it when i had been driving quickly. the problem deteriorated over about 6 months and got worse in the spring summer during the day time. I took it into an independant in Slough, and he fixed it along with an inspection 2, wiper blades, bulbs for £480. On the itemised bill it looked like £25 for the part and labour on the bonnet catch. The alarm problem is solved, and with the service the car feel v sharp.

Picked my new Z4 up yesterday... Perfect.

This morning, checked oil, screen wash, etc and alarms been going off all day.

Found this thread and replaced the bonnet sensor. 15 minutes and no alarm problem.

Looking good. Thanks Folks.

Ref. Alarm problem. I have had the same bother. I disconnected my bonnet sensor. That didn't help. Mine was even going off while driving. After reading about it on lots of different forums. I charged my battery and this has sorted it. A weak battery seemed to be the cause of it. It's been fine for over a week now.
