BMW ipod connector: terrible sound quality

Post by dpms2 » Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:48 am

I have recently taken delivery of my 2006 Z4 2.5i mSport. It has the original BMW ipod connector installed in the glove box. On my old Z4, I had the Dension IceLink, which was perfect .

Howevere, this one gives really terrible hissing sound quality. Interestingly, the first 5 seconds of each song are not too bad, then the hiss kicks in - it sounds like car audio cassette tapes used to sound like in the 80s.

Does anyone know a cure for this, or why it might be happening? Really regretting not dismantling the IceLink from my old one before i sold it now... Should I buy a new IceLink??

Is it an "Aux In" type connection or USB? I had lousy sound quality and found that my (brand-new) cable was at fault.

it's an ipod dock-type connector, not USB or AUX.

I have the BMW iPod connector. I hear hissing between tracks - but when the music starts it is crystal clear....

I would suggest having it looked at by the dealer....
The Z4M Roaster & Croup are gone!
It's E92 M3 from now on.

Anyone that is looking to hook up their IPOD look at the Intravee you can get one from Bimmernav. I purchased mine about a month ago and it is great. You loose the cd changer as it uses this connection, but when you have thousands of tracks it is not needed. Also it is easy to fit (I did mine!!!)

Sound quality is great (particularly when you have Carver).
