Disconnect the battery for half an hour, it quite often fixes issues like this.

Will try that tomorrow.srhutch wrote:Disconnect the battery for half an hour, it quite often fixes issues like this.
Does that effect anything else on the car? Had a car before hand that if you disconnected the battery the central locking from key fob would not work etc. is this gonna be an issue?

Re: Outside temperature stuck at -40!
My guess is that the connection to the outside temperature sensor (in the wheel well) has become disconnected, so the car is seeing an open circuit and so registering -40.

Yep, I'd bet the temp sensor has either given up the ghost or come unhooked. Mine reads -40 also, ever since my "better half" ran over a construction barrel and tore out the inside fender liner that the sensor was once attached to!

You will need to reset the windows for auto up/down - there are many threads on this because it seems that the car decides what method it likes, and how many times you need to do it, depending on how it feels on the dayLukeMace wrote:Will try that tomorrow.srhutch wrote:Disconnect the battery for half an hour, it quite often fixes issues like this.

Re: Outside temperature stuck at -40!
so i have had a good gander around the front to see if i can find where the Sensor would be.
I have opened both the driver side and passenger side fog lamp back plates but cant find anything!
I will get some pics up of what i have found to give you more of an image. Basically i have found after a good rummage a connector which has no sensor on it but it was purposefully moved out of the way somewhere and i am not sure if this is even the connector for the sensor! it has blue wires and an odd plug/socket on the end of it.
hard to describe with no photos!! will get some up in a sec!
stealership quoted £35 for a new sensor and an extra £5 for loom if needed
Ebay is asking £10 for the sensor which isnt bad atall!!

Blue wires, that'd be the one. One with brown tracer, the other with red tracer.

The wire I found tucked behind a panel by the fog light...
inside... Where does the sensor go?
