Groan from steering
My issue seems to have been solved. I hv no idea how. It just seemed to go away itself after I lubed loads of times. Maybe it just needed time to work its way in.

I'm up the M40 by junction 5 , we can have a go at spraying the joints to see if it works, it did on my car.TIGERPOOL87 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 22, 2017 4:27 pm Is anyone in the west london area that could have a look for me? I have the same issue. Willing to pay of course, but not the extortionate prices the garages have quoted.
Thanks

I’m thinking of lubing my steering. It doesn’t groan but is a bit heavy. Not sure if it’s normal for these cars or not to be honest.
Either way I’ve got some lithium grease and was going to spray that on the column and where it enters the rack. Didn’t want to use wd40 as that doesn’t give me confidence it will lubricate it long term. Is lithium grease a better bet?

I used Bmw power steering rack grease and when I did the steering rack it seemed to match the grease that was in there, I also greased the steering column uj's and sprayed ptfe spray on the plastic collar where the column comes through the bulkhead this cured my groaning steering.
If your steering is heavy tho have a look at the various sticky steering threads on here and see if maybe that is your problem.

If it's good enough for one of the best fighter jets ever made then I'm sure it's good enough for one of the best roadsters too

Sorry you'll have to excuse my ignorance of calling it a fighter jet, just googled it, multi role combat aircraft it says, saw a gr4 go through the mach loop just before it retired very impressive

When my wife says I’m not listening I simply blame night shifts, sitting under a Tonka doing engine installation runs in full reheat about 6 feet from my head, simply because it was the only warm place to be.
