How have you tried to reset it, normally you need INPA or DIS software to clear code

Hi, my Z4 is the 2004 model, and has the airbag light problem.
It has not as of yet been resolved, took the car to a garage and they cannot solve this issue on their diagnostic machine.

Do you know what may have caused the light, normally you will need BMW DIS software or INPA to clear the light unless there's a problem. Both will tell you what the problem is.

I've taken it to a garage and they connected it to their computer, they could not pick up a fault or clear the light..
So unsure whether this is the cars fault of the computers software not doing its job properly?

Perhaps I should try taking it to a few more garages?

More than likely they dont have the correct software to diagnose the code

After trying four 'Technicians' with their different diagnostic machines which all showed 'No fault shown' despite my SRS light being on for the past two months
I finally found a guy with a 'Snap on Diagnostic machine' who also had 'No fault shown' who persevered until he found a fault which said ' Faulty seat belt tensioner on REAR near side seat' despite Z4's not having any rear seats, he reset it and lo and behold my light has now gone out and works perfectly
It's hard to have any faith in BMW electrics

Had the same Andy. Easy DIY job to replace the slipring and then reset the light with iNPA.

tried one, didn't work. INPA worked first time.

Software - check eBay - allows you to do all sorts of stuff, and connects the laptop to your ODB port.

Our local stealership says "no applicable recall" regarding my frau Janet's 2003 2.5 litre. They want $120 to read codes, credited on repair charges which could be substantial, they say. The airbag indicator lighted-up when a passenger briefly exited the vehicle, engine still running. No surprise, there are plenty of emulators to address the problem of a suspected seat mat sensor. I measure the resistance as ~1050 ohms, no load; under my 200 lb butt, the resistance goes up to 1100-1300 ohms inconsistently. An internet videoclip talks about 200 ohms in series with a 1N4001 diode for a home-made emulator; but otherwise I don't have a benchmark on this -- no Z4-owning friend to call upon.... unless someone on this forum has info to share. Many thanks in advance.... glenn in South Carolina.
