CD changer issues

Post by Couzens » Mon Dec 26, 2016 1:45 pm

Did a search (quick one) but couldn't find a similar issue, changed the CDs the other day (it's been working fine previously) and now when I insert the cartridge it just displays checking CD on the screen then doesn't do anything.

The cartridge pops out ok and locks in when inserted all OK, but doesn't appear to be loading the CDs. Was working fine previously as stated.

Any help?

Ryan.

Think they can only go in one way? I'll double check, but pretty sure they are haha.

Bin it. The CD changers get problematic after a while. Get yourself an mp3 solution such as an Intravee or Dension.

+1. replace the cdc with an ipod cable then attach the 5v adaptor and BT dongle to it and start streaming.
It's the way forward!

Actually, I think the CD changer is a really cool feature of the car. I load mine up with:
CD1: Rap
CD2: Jazz
CD3: Audiobooks
CD4: Classical etc

... and they are like having nice channels - always in the same place. MP3s are just so mundane and boring today, always fiddling about looking for the playlist, blah blah. Which is dangerous too, when driving.
And streaming - yuck - that is the lowest quality audio ever - almost a disgrace to use streaming with the Bimmer audio system. Typically about 1/20th the data resolution of CD quality. Yuck. If you are that desperate, just play the radio.

P.S. As to your problem, try changing to different CDs (nice clean ones) ... if that doesn't work, try cleaning the cartridge with a vacuum ... and if that doesn't work, try swapping out with someone else's cartridge.
