Water Pump Leak

There is a safety guard thing right infront of the water pump so you cant pull it out...would raising the engine by 20mm help the situation?

benben wrote: Thanks for all the advice gents. The lower radiator hose seems to be leaking aswell (very small leak) but im thinking of changing that aswell. Probably a better idea than using glue.So you reckon change the thermostat aswell? This is quickly turning into an expensive ordeal.
No it isn't - just be grateful you don't have a facelift with the N52 engine!

The pump is electric and an OEM one is about £500 (or £340ish from ECP) plus £100 for a new thermostat !

Always look on the bright side of life!

Undo the inlet side engine mount and jack up the engine from below, it will give you enough clearance..

When putting coolant in I think you have to either raise her or park uphill with heater on and bleed valve on expansion tank opened

Water Pump Leak

Post by benben » Fri Feb 24, 2017 7:40 am

Thanks for all the advice gents,

Ended up doing it in the garage with a mate and changed the water pump, lower radiator hose, thermostat and both alternator and compressor belts.

On a different note the paint of the car is coming off at places due to being parked under the sun all these years. Any advice? (low budget advice haha)
