Suspension issues
Hi people, can anyone tell me what the issue is in this picture please? Heard a nasty clonk from passenger front while driving car yesterday, had a quick look around when i parked her up couldn't see anything so thought it might have been something I hit on the road. Went to pull off drive today and when turning steering wheel while stationary a horrible noise coming from steering. Had a look at passenger from strut and that is what I saw. I'm not sure if the shock has rusted and something has snapped off, there seems to be a rubber seal of some sort which I can move around with my hands. Sorry for my ignorance but mechanical is not my game I'm in construction so just hit things with big hammers lol

- I'm assuming that the lower metal peice with the rubber ring should be attached to the top of the shock???

I did have an advisory on my mot " macpherson strut corroded but not seriously weakened (topmount)" so do you think that has total gone and the spring has gone above it?? Will have to get wheel off and have a look!!

That's the front, not the rear is about 45 minutes if you're capable with a spanner.M1ghty_m0use wrote:Hard to tell but looks to be as if the springs broke and half missing ? Needs jacking up and you would know if it's the spring ,3 minute job
As other have said, Jack it up and take further picture if you still cannot tell.

I know it's the front ! , jacking ups a 3 minute job ( to find the cause) not actually repairing it
