Roof on the key

Post by Safari Hunter » Fri Mar 10, 2017 4:02 pm

Hi guys
When I bought my 2.5si facelift the key would lower and raise the roof.
Been on holiday for 3 weeks and this no longer works. Roof is fine from the buttons though.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Adrian

If it raised the roof with the key when you got it someone has added a roof module at some point.

Are you having to hold the roof up/down button on the C console? Most modules will turn this into a 0.5 sec press.

If you are then I'd say the wrap around and clip in style connectors are dodgy (don't know name). As they dont need cutting to fit the module the standard wiring would be ok, hence buttons to drop and raise the top working.

I might be talking rubbish but that's my guess

There was no flat battery, roof works perfect from inside but not on the key.

What key presses did you have to do to raise and lower the roof from the key?

Normally its hold the "unlock" button. Does the windows too sometimes.
Press and hold "lock" should (or can be programmed) to close windows and close roof...

Yep, this is a coding option, rather than a module. I had this enabled on mine (via NCS) before I got the RCH+ module (cause holding that button on the key while waiting for the roof to go up/latch is such a drag....). If you've lost this function it's strange as it's 'burnt' into the control unit when coded - it shouldn't 'disappear' as far as I know.
I would get the coding read and see if the feature shows as activ or nicht activ.
Or, try the 'disconnect the earth from the battery for at least 15 minutes then reconnect it' trick - this may reset functionality (but you may need to reinitialise the windows).

Also coded one touch for windows up and down. That's pretty handy too.
