Seat belt stalk faulty straight after passing MOT

Post by Peterboroughdave » Tue Mar 21, 2017 9:54 pm

Today the zed passed its MOT with just advisories on need to replace tires soon. :)

The not so good news is this evening the drivers side seat belt will not fit into the "stalk" :x . Any advise on possibly remedy or how easy it is to replace the stalk, plus where best to source a replacement.

Best regards

Dave and Sarah

The stalk? You mean where the seatbelt clips in?

Seat belt stalk faulty straight after passing MOT

Hi

Thanks for quick responses

Yes, I mean where it plugs in.

Thanks for the link, it does seem a bit involved but doable

I am feeling rather P----d as it worked fine until the MOT tester tested it.

I'd go low tech first.

Get a good torch (and magnifying glass) and have a proper look inside and find out why its not going in. Never had a belt buckle fail but my first thoughts are: something in the mechanism; mechanism has moved to lock position and needs pushing back; red button sticking; something in the hole in the clip?

Simple and cheap first!

Hi Crazy Harry,

you are spot on, I got an email this morning from wifey, she confirmed having found a small leather tassel from her red poncho stuffed into the seat belt receiver. She plucked this out with a tooth pick and now all is well.

I feel guilty now for suspecting that it was caused by the MOT tester, also wifey is now being far too cocky.

Cheers

Dave
