Roof won't work, no lights
I did search but I couldn't find any info, I tried putting the roof up, it got right up to the point where the latch motor normally takes over but it didn't, flashing red light and i had to lock it shut with an Allen key (luckily i was at home because it's missing from the tool kit!) Now the roof button doesn't do anything, not even a light, any ideas? I've checked the cable in the boot and it's in the normal position, although it's not exactly taught, is that normal? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've checked that, thanks though. I tried to put it down after leaving it a while, it partly unlatched then red flashing light. I've manually latched it again and now the battery is disconnected in the hope that it will reset something.

I should add that the windows don't lower half way like they would normally either.

Sounds like a swamped roof motor. Whereabouts are you, I know someone who can fix it..

Damn, I was hoping it would be something else, I assumed a dead motor would give a light. Unfortunately I'm a good few hours away from you, I've been meaning to move the motor into the boot, looks like I'm doing it sooner than expected!Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2017 3:14 pm Sounds like a swamped roof motor. Would the windows an roof not release, regardless of a swamped motor , as it does that process before the main motor kicks in , just a thought

Not the micro switch for the parcel shelf ??? They do play up, not sure what the symptoms are, but worth checking it's not failed/fallen apart.
Where are you based, as there are other forum members around the country who can do the roof too.

The micro switch felt ok, that would give a yellow light if it's the cause I thought? I'm in Hertfordshire, but I'll give motor relocation a go myself, I'm used to working in uncomfortable positions where I can't see what I'm doing so should be ok hopefully.
I've just scanned for errors with Carly and I got "arrestor hook drive" which sounds more like the latch above the window than the motor to me? No info on Google about it to confirm though.

That's what I'd assume, the hydraulic motor got the roof all the way up to the position where the latch motor normally takes over which makes me think it's more likely that.

But thinking about it, the windows go down before the roof unlatches normally anyway, so window lowering could be stopped by any roof fault, not just the hydraulic motor?

There's no light even with the shelf removed which seems strange, does anyone nearer to Hertfordshire do the motor relocation? I can't get the housing apart, must be a trick I'm missing!

Bowser lives near Yately, Hampshire, he's a BMW tech and can drop you at the local town while he does the job.

It's not going to be the roof motor if nothing else is happening.
