Whale/Ship Horn sound when full locking steering wheel

Post by TIGERPOOL87 » Mon Apr 17, 2017 4:26 pm

Hi everyone!

So my z4 coupe makes a whale/ship horn sound (literally the only way I can describe it) when I am turning the steering on a full lock to the left, but not sound to the right.

I have read online and there really isnt a concrete answer as to what it is, but there are many people who are having this issue.

Any ideas what I might be? Should I be worried?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

My Coupe occasionally makes a noise similar for just a second or so, say when reversing into a parking space. I did wonder if its because the car might be in "sport" mode and so the steering's a bit heavier in this mode??

It usually only happens when the car is stationary or just slow, and not in sports mode. Its really weird!
