My sat nav keeps losing gps lock,I had fitted a second hand replacement gps unit and it is still the same am I correct in thinking the dvd sat nav drive is the next likely culprit?

Have you checked how many satellites are being seen in the hidden menu.

Also, get a new gps antenna. Under a tenner for one off eBay.

I have tried a new antenna from ebay but it would only work 100% if it was mounted on top of the dash board if I left it in its correct position above the interior light it only locked intermittently, which leads me to believe there is a problem elsewhere

I bought one from eBay and mounted it by the magnet on the inner rear wing and it works there no problem. If it works 100% mounted on the dash then surely that must be the problem

Where in the rear wing have you positioned it?

Sat nav gps problem

check the cable to the antenna as i had a similar problem, the wire is very thin and i had a break within the wire, luckily it was close to the joint so bent the cable and struck it in position, problem solved.
