DISA rattle.

Post by Ducklakeview » Sat Apr 29, 2017 9:59 am

Ok, so had my DISA valve out for inspection a few weeks ago, and it appears fine, no real play between the components and the vacuum side is working fine, so I put off ordering the alloy "upgrade kit" for now.

However, the annoying "rattle" I had, which I thought could be VANOS, with the car now on 62k, is actually the DISA valve. Sounds like it's rapidly opening and closing at idle, and it's annoying me.. Removing the connector plug stops it, but should it be doing it? Might just order the kit and do it anyway.

I've got a kit you can have for £50. Bought it when I first got the car then realised I've got the N52 engine lol

Is it the one with both the paddle AND the small black connector made of alloy? If so, I'll have it - £50 posted?

It is the 3.0 M54 one isn't it as the 2.2/2.5 are different.

DISA rattle.

the 3.0 DISA is different than the smaller engines so make sure it's for the correct one for your car.

I did mine and tbh it didn't need doing. I then found out a company make brand new clones too and plenty of second hand working ones around.

I somehow acquired 3 DISA valves now. I should really sell at least 1 of them on but people were worried about them not being made any more. I plan on testing mine soon, it's upgraded but I never tested the vacuum when i did the upgrade.
