Brake Pad light reset

Post by Safari Hunter » Fri Jun 09, 2017 11:12 am

Hi
My brake pad light won't go out. Pads changed, both front and rear sensors changed, fluid is fine. I've tried the leave the ignition on for 2 minutes and also someone said hold down the DTC but it still won't go off.
Any ideas please?

Thanks
Adrian

Providing the sensors are properly plugged in they should reset after driving and using the brakes for a while, sometimes a couple of applications, sometimes longer.

Thanks for the reply. I've checked everything and all looks good, driven for 30 miles but still on.

Um, :scratchhead: turning the ignition to position 2 and waiting for a minute might reset it as for some other systems, some resets require you to have the drivers door open when you do this (no idea why) so is worth a try as well. Mine went after a few miles but that isn't actually how it's supposed to work.

Did you replace the wear sensor? It doesn't take a lot to wear into them.

If you didn't replace them then replace them.

If you did replace them take them off and put them on again making sure the connections are good.

On my old E39 it took about about 3 days for the light to finally go out.
