2007 BMW 2.0 now sounds like a tractor
Just took out my Z4 and it has began to make a horrendous rattling noise from the engine . I will try and post a video . There is also a slight loss of power but no warning lights . Limped it around the block and parked it back on my drive . Any ideas was fine yesterday . ??

Sounds like an issue I had when the timing chain streamed and slipped. Common on the N46 20i engine.riverside23 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 03, 2017 9:38 am Just took out my Z4 and it has began to make a horrendous rattling noise from the engine . I will try and post a video . My advice is don't start the engine again and get it to a mechanic and get them to plug it in.

Rac came stopped doing it no error codes and running normal again . He said it could be something to do with the oil not circulating initially . Very blizzare noticed the clutch when depressing clicks towards the floor . And that's now stopped .

No, once it started it was fooked until a rebuild.
It wont be the timing chain if it is now fine. Just see how it goes I guess

I've just had the timing chain done, cost £396 from Plough Motors in Boldon, this is the lad who coded my ABS pump for £20, BMW wanted £150. Independent BMW specialist who really knows his stuff.
BTW mine was showing a fault code saying "camshaft position sensor exhaust"
