window alignment
Hi Guys i have just bought my Z4 and am loving it.
I am going through a few things that need to be sorted.
I have the dreaded wind noise on the drivers side and had read on the forum that you could adjust the angles etc from bolts on door base.
I checked and the previous owner had done this and they are all the way closed with no more adjustment, also they had use the trick of spacers in the door rubbers near the top where the window closes.
If you check the images it looks like the window is touching the roof and stopping it going up completely. They must not have been able to solve the problem, im not that worried about the noise but worried that it could let in water if it gets any worse.
Has anyone got any ideas as to what to do

have you tried adjusting the locking mech. on the door, slacken off the bolts and move it slightly further out which would pull the door in and tighten the window to the rubber

I thought he meant the part on the car frame, but not clear.
Looks like your window needs rotating towards the front of the car, there is other adjustment for the window, but think it requires going in through the door handle after removal IIRC. The bottom of the door has some adjustment, but appears to have been all used.
What is that on your seat??

Is it a easy job or would BMW charge a lot for adjusting.
It's a seat cover I recoloured the leather and was using it for protection

I have noticed the driver door seems to be slightly raised
could this cause the window to be to high and if so how do I bring it back down- Smartbear

that shut line appears to be rather large? Have you compared it to another car?

I would check the other side to see if there's any shims between the door & hinges that may have been left out, has it been accident damaged?Tysonwills wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 8:19 am compared with the passenger side and does seem a few more mm wider any advice

adjusted the window as much as possible with the points provided.
I have read that you can adjust more by removing the door card and working with it.
Does anyone have directions as how to do this

These will help you remove door card. There is definitely an alignment problem with the glass and/or the door could have sagged.

On Friday I discovered I have a window regulator problem so I've been doing a bit of reading about removing door cards and setting up the regulator. There is further adjustment inside the door, it doesn't look easy and probably not for the feint hearted but I might give it a go.
