Easiest way to connect my ipod to the car??

Post by Daddley » Tue Jul 26, 2011 9:20 am

I've got an 07, 3.0si sport and its has the cd changer in the storage compartment in between the seats.. but no mp3 connection.

can I just re direct the cable from the cd changer on to the ipod (with an adapter) or do I have to take the vents out, remove stereo and fit ipod connector directly to the head unit?

Hoping theres an easy way!

Many Thanks in advance

are you sure there isn't an AUX in socket under the air con controls on the underside of the dashboard?

it was standard on 2007 model cars...

still pretty easy to add it :D

depends how much iPod control you want. AUX only allows playback, no control.

do you mean control from the ipod itself, happy with that, would be great if I could control the ipod from the stereo, but if its invoves more work, then I wont bother :-)

do go on....

there are options which cost more, such as the intravee which if you have nav give more display and control of your iPod. Personally I have an AUX but no nav and am happy enough :D

Im sure others will be a long shortly to give more details, or you could try a search for 'intravee'...

What kind of cable do you need to connect from your ipod to the AUX?

I use one of these:

Belkin Auto iPod Connector

then you just need a 3.5mm jack cable (male to male) from the above to the AUX socket...

sounds a little better this way as this takes the digital signal from the ipod (Nano v3 in my case) through a little amplification in the unit :D
