Aux cable

Post by jamesditchy » Fri Jul 28, 2017 8:15 am

I know this has been asked many times before but I am looking to install an aux cable the easiest possible way. I've heard the mini cable does the job for half the price. Can anybody please supply me a part number or an ebay listing number for an aux cable that is a straight plug in and also tell me which port on the head unit it plugs into.

Alternitavely a good recommendation for a good blue tooth kit where the songs can be controlled by the radio/steering wheel.

Many thanks in advance, Jay

I use this cable and it works fine.

Pry off the panel directly above the roof/heated seats/ traction switches.
Feel on the back of the headunit on the volume side for an empty port, that is where it plugs in.
Can be a bit fiddly but should take no more than a few minutes.

I have a problem with AUX connection, radio does not show AUX option after I push MODE button. It doesn't recognise that the wiere is there.
My car (no navi) 03/2006:
S662A Radio BMW Business CD
S672A CD Changer For 6 CDs
S676A HiFi Speaker System
I have an empty space behind the radio in lower right corner, there is no switch there so I do as follows:

is it OEM? there should be a resistance between left and right signals for the head unit to be able to see it.

Yeah but looks terrible, can this be attached to OEM slot under a/c? Somehow?

?
It's a small 3.5mm socket that in reality is no more visible than the OEM socket, so not sure why you think it looks terrible.
If you position it correctly then it's out of sight, just like the OEM socket. If you don't like the silver lock ring, then paint it black - but as it can be positioned out of sight anyway...?

At least it works :poke:
Maybe the problem lies with your socket coming from an E87?

I am just a fan of OEM looking things, dont take it personally
Let's say I will dismount the end with jack slot. I hope there is a way to connect that to the bracket with aux-in label.
Your car is pre or LCI.

I prefer OEM look too, where possible, with only the most subtle of customisation to anything visible.
Must admit I've never figured out what LCI means
- but my car is a 2006 facelift, without the aux as standard.
