Parrot mk9200

Post by Tysonwills » Sun Aug 20, 2017 5:30 pm

I have tried to connect a parrot 9200 to my 2004 zed but when I connect as I think it should go nothing works.
I have attached an image as how I have it wired.
There is a coil of red wire and a yellow wire with a connection on the end do these need to be as teaches anywhere as it seems it isn't getting any power.

The red lead needs to be connected to an ignition switched +12v supply - the adaptor lead you have maybe intended for a later BMW model where there is no ignition switched supply at the OEM head unit. You should be able to tap this into one of the existing pins at the quad lock connector with switched +12V or run it to the fusebox and use a fuse tap to pull a supply from there.

The yellow is the mute wire that you normally connect into one of three (?) alternative bullet sockets that allow the 'mute' function on an OEM head unit to be triggered if a call comes in whilst the head unit is active. The different sockets allow for different configurations on different vehicles.

I assume you don't have the original instructions with your Parrot kit?

I agree , put this onto a live to test first then if that's the issues pull the cable through to the fuse box and pick up a feed there.

Also try this place for info, they did have a Q and A forum and were pretty quick with replies as I have a MK9100 and needed info.

Yes, connect the red wire into the yellow/black wire if that goes to pin 16 of the quad lock connector.

Where does the red wire with empty bullet connector go to? If it only connects to the long red wire above via the ISO plug and socket then clearly we're still not going to have a +12v ignition feed to the blue parrot box. Are there any other bullet plugs and sockets in that part of the wiring harness leading to the Parrot box?

Looking at your first photo in this thread, yes there are other bullet connectors in the lead to the Parrot box. Typically there might be constant and ignition switched +12v wires in the harness and the bullet connectors allow you to swap them over on the feed to the accessory, as the pin locations in the car harness can be reversed between different makes. Are all the other bullets paired up to matching coloured wires?

Looking again at the (poor) diagram in the parrot manual (linked above), the red wire should actually be constant +12v, I.e. Connected to the car battery to keep the memory in the audio equipment. The Orange wire is the ignition switched +12v, so I would trace back the red and orange wires from the parrot connector (at the blue box) to check if they are connected to the following pins at the quad lock connector you plug into the car's wiring harness:

Pin 15 = +12v dir (red)
Pin 16 = +12v Ign (Orange)
Pin 12 = GND (black)

(Note these pin now taken off google - there seem to be some variations between models so you may have to swap Orange and red around)

Cheers Chris
All other bullets are connected the red one seems to be on its own with no where to go.
Ill check the red and orange and see, getting a bit lost now beginning to think its beyond me but dont want to pay someone as they could charge 100's
