How to remove the temperature sensor

Postby jward - Thu Dec 17, 2009 3:25 pm

My temperature sensor is reading -40 degrees and needs replacing. Would grately appreciate some advice on where it's located and how to get to it! I understand it's somewhere under the front bumper?

Located in the cavity behind the front NS wheel arch and bumper cover. Fitted into the flat underneath pointing downwards. You could probably reach the mounting through the lower wheel arch inspection housing, failing that bumper cover off.
Never removed one so difficult to say how it's fixed in.

The sensor was where cj10jeeper described. You can reach it through the near side wheel arch howver I took the bumper off as I wanted to do a good job and make sure the wiring had not been damaged. The bumper is extremey easy to take off and there are some good how to's on the web for it.

I ran into a fox (animal) and took the N/S of my bumper, wheel arch liner and all the bits including the temp sensor. Ive restored nearly everything but unsure where to stick the temp sensor? HELP!!!!! :)

It goes into the lower horizontal cover between the wheel arrch and bumper cover. It fits into a domed moulding such that the sensor protrudes outside but not below the line of the cars underside.
