Intravee into cabin.

Postby JohnV - Sat Jan 28, 2012 12:25 pm

Hi. Is there a guide for getting the intravee from boot into the cabin in a Z4MC? I've had the rear firewall carpet off behind the seats, but can't plot any straightforward access through the compartment between the seats. Many thanks.

I had to drill a approx 2cm hole in the plastic cubby hole.

Do you then feed the cable through from the cabin and it becomes visible from the boot? The cubby hole appears to be above the level of the cut-out for access to the cd changer in the metal bulkhead between the seats and boot.

Hmmm id have to go and check. I don't have a cd changer in mine. So I've have two cubby holes. One above the DVD nav unit and one below the nav unit. I drilled a hole in the one below. I Imagine that's where your cd changed sits.

Not sure how ur going to feed the wire through now, try using a coat hanger or something to pull it through perhaps?

I managed to avoid drilling a hole, really didn't fancy doing that.

With a bit of care you can just open the gap in the centre storage compartment (inside cabin) enough to pass the iPod connection through. I first fed some 3m number plate tape through the gap from cabbin into the boot. Used this to securely hold iPod connector end of lead. Then from inside the cabin withdrew the tape to the point when connector reached the gap. Then some firm put gentle constant pressure to just widden the gap enough for the connector to pass then relax, and the wire lead flows freely. So now iPod connected to this which lives permanently in the centre storage cubbyhole.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks. Which gap do you mean. I've seen some mention of a gap above the cd changer and dvd nav and opening this up, but I can't see anything of the sort. It looks like a very snug fit already.

I'll double check and post a photo up. I'm stuck at work all weekend but will be home tomorrow if you can wait?

as can see i was able to bring it through the gap between CD changer and cubby. Sits there nicely now, no compression on the cord once the connector is through
