I also had 611C error, after disassembly the torque sensor after small wriggle felt off ... Resoldered, and it's working again. Mine is E86 coupe, no crash.

Glad I've stumbled on this thread I need to remove my EPS system, I suspect a collapsed bearing causing my interesting straight line issues.

Problem solved. The locking ring between the motor and the column had loosened off causing play in the steering. adjusted and now all is nice and solid again.
