UPDATED NOW WITH PHOTOS! European Road trip, UK to monza for the GP

Post by 85genius » Fri Jun 26, 2015 10:37 pm

So this is the whole reason I'm buying my Z4! Me and a load of mates have all decided on a European Road trip this summer ending up at the Italian grand prix in monza. There's 14 of us going 2 people to a car, mostly bringing girlfriends along but a couple of my.mates are going 2 lads to a car. So far 3 of us have bought our machines, I went z4 (of course) one mate has an e36 m3 and another has got an slk280 amg. All reasonably similar speed obviously m3 slightly quicker but We won't be far off. I'v already told my mate with the m3 I'm sharing his spare wheel

Harwich to Hook then making our way through holland Germany Austria (stelvio pass for some alpine driving) then through to Italy for the Italian Gp.

After the f1 is done we'll come back through Switzerland then France, Callais to Dover then back up to Yorkshire .

Still not planned the route properly but I can't wait!

We are setting off in the afternoon of the 29th of August driving down to Harwich for the night ferry to Hook, then making our way through Europe . Having a sit down next weekend to properly discuss the route down Italy but we got about 5 days to get there in time for the GP so we can get pretty creative on the stops

What a trip. Love everything about it. The journey, the company and an F1 race. Epic. You better take a camera!

Will try and get a few more this aft after we meet up, but we won't have all 7 cars together until Monday, well actually they'll be 8 cars for a couple of days of the trip, anyway I'll post as many photos as I can depending on where I can get a decent wifi signal

Got back last night, well this morning actually and it was awesome! Ended up staying an extra day as really didn't want the trip to end. We decided to change the route on the way down as there were thunderstorms all through the Alps so didn't fancy Stelvio with zero visibility, but found a nice route through France. We made up for it on the way back and drove up through Italy over the Stelvio Pass into Austria, amazing drive! then up into Germany and spent our last night in Brussels. Don't worry there are more photos coming but got loads of work to catch up on so will be a few days, but I'll leave you with one of my favourites from the trip mostly because its my car and its some amazing scenery
