Not sure about the micro filter but if you care hasn't had a break fluid change for 2 years I would get it done. Lots on here about break fluid but over time it absorbs moisture (hydrscopic) and degrades, hard breaking can cause the absorbed water to boil and hence rapid break fade!

i am off to Europe very soon and driving those mountain roads will require good breaks so cheers Alan, will get it done

Prices sound crazy. Microfilter is just located under the glovebox. Even with labour should not cost more than £100. Brake fluid change should be around £150.

Strangely, my brakes felt WORSE after the fluid had been done at BMW. So much so that I got my ///M specialist to do another change about a month later, and it's back to how it was before I had the dealer change.

I paid about £71 on Wednesday for my brake fluid change!

was that at an indy?
they might charge different rate for different engines, mine is a 2.5 and yours 3ltr but still don't see why that much difference!

in answer to your question,No. It was Cooper Norwich BMW main dealer :?

Took my car for its first service 2 weeks ago, I decided to have the micro filter changed but because i only decided to have it done on the day they did not have the filter in (understandable), so I booked the micro filter to be done today, also they looked at the horn, this was deemed faulty and would be replaced under warranty. Today I went back for the horn and micro filter. After the job was completed I was expecting a bill for approx £40 for the micro filter, I was informed the horn had taken longer than expected so they did not charge me for the micro filter

Well impressed

I'm off to this dealer on Monday afternoon (for a Tuesday inspection), and it's the cheapest of the Williams group - despite them all claiming that they use the same pricing structure :?

They've also got the best reputation - both independently online and on Williams' own star ratings - of the Williams group.

The guy who took my booking seemed happy to chat and helped somewhat to overcome my concerns around experiences of other Williams branches.

I'll report back on Tuesday night/Wednesday.

Did you get them to check your vehicle with you before you handed over the keys.....?
