Brake fluid change, health check and fixed my offside wheel arch liner that was coming loose. £65.

Incredibly friendly service. Seemed quite reasonable to me.

I took my Z4 for an oil change at BMW Cooper Croydon and they broke the sump plug, which leaked oil away from the engine as I drove the car after the service.
Let's not forget to mention how I was standed on the motorway afterwards with smoke coming out of the back of my car.
They have now fixed the broken sump plug but say that the engine is fine??
When the car was initially taken in to BMW Plymouth post motorway incident, the thought was that there was likely to be engine damage.
Two opposing statements from two BMW garages. Who do I trust? Because BMW Cooper Croydon are paying for the repairs themselves after their service cock-up, are they trying to do the cheapest job possible??

Em34 - welcome to the Forum. Shame you first post is a moan

I would certainly have a full oil change and a sight of the 'broken' sump plug to see what they did. Can only assume they cross threaded it when refitting which would have meant damage to the sump itself. Would have wanted that replaced and not Helicoiled.

I'm thinking of getting my Inspection 2 done at Cooper Croydon so its good to see a thread about them on here. They have always been pretty friendly to me when I have been in but I've never had any work done there

If nothing has actually gone pop, I'd put it in writing that you hold them responsible for any low oil related issues for the next six months...

Oil starvation is serious thou... If your car broken down due to no oil then i doubt there is no damage.

I visited when mine was nearing the end of warranty to report that my CD multichanger intermittently would neither play nor eject the magazine. After a bit of fiddling (in the car park not the workshop) the magazine came out and the player started to work again. They said that if it failed again beyond the end of the warranty, since I'd reported the fault within warranty period, they would fix it under the terms of the warranty.
A few months later, when it became a more persistent problem I asked them to fix it, and they denied my ever having been there before. In fact, I spoke to the same person on both occasions, and they had been very enthusiastic about my car as they "rarely see the ///M coupe"... In the end, I found that dismantling the magazine and spraying it with Mr Sheen fixed the problem for a year or more.
On my first visit, I asked also about an alloy that had delaminating lacquer and I was told that the "wheel and paint" specialist had to assess to see if it was a manufacturing failure. They took my mobile number and address, telling me that I would be contacted when this specialist was expected to visit next. Of course they never did.
I would avoid them, they seem lying crooks from my limited experience :thumbsdown:

The problem is that Berry Chiswick (my other local BMW dealer) are no different. They damaged my car whilst they had it and it took weeks to rectify.

I believe there are good dealers and bad dealers, just as there are good and bad indys. If you have a good dealer or indy, I would keep with them and let the forum know, I believe there is a sperate thread on here somewhere to post members comments, good and bad!

To often we hear about the bad things and issues, but not so often about the good points.

I agree, but I haven't found a reliable dealer yet. Perhaps because they aren't so dependent on providing a good repairs service to keep their business afloat, and the work is often performed by a faceless mechanic who doesn't leave the workshop and interact with customers.

I never stop posting about my Indy, but he's a very long way from Croydon, so likely not much use to the OP. If anyone is looking for a good indy / ///M mechanic west of London, I use http://www.cpcpe.com/index.html :thumbsup:

So after this leads to the same old question that I have posted in the past - does anyone know any good indy BMW garages near the Croydon area? They appear to be very rare!!!
