Wheel refurb in manchester .

Post by Greg 01 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 4:12 pm

Hi guys .
Hope this is the right place :D .
So I bought a set of 108,s from a nice guy DLH they needed a refurb so looked around and found smartwheels manchester .
I looked at the reviews etc and all seemed good.
I went spoke to the guy and he quoted me £320 to split clean up and rebuild , 2 to 3 days
Also got me a deal on some tyres .
It took almost 2 weeks and lots of phone calls later :x and the powder coating
Was mottled a bit so we had a chat and he said not to worry he will sort it .
I went back a few days later and they were ready .
Except the powder coating wasn't perfect and he had coated the whole sodding lot , bolts an all  .
We agreed I would pay just over half price .
He offered to do my other wheels for free .
I declined as I just wanted the whole thing over an done with ! .
Never again .

Any pics  powdercoated the bolt heads
Ive had a good few sets of 108s powdercoated & they always seem difficult to get all 8 pieces flawless possibly due to age or being 2 different metals ? The stars always come up better than the rims in general :?
I have a set to collect tomorrow , they were pretty ropey going in so let's see the results

Smart wheels are scruffy w*****s..

Signature is also crap,as is mobile wheel repairs..

The wheel specialist in Openshaw is the best place in Manchester...Prestige is also great but in Furness vale.

Believe me,i have tried them all.

I got out an looked but it seemed ok I drove to work and left it came back and it was flat .
Used my bottle of tyreweld drove to garage and pumped tyre up 30 psi
This morning my tyre had 23 psi took it to four
Garages they would not touch it with tyre weld in it :( said new tyre needed . 7 days old the tyre .
Finally found a place dipped it found a few little bubbles coming from the rim front face .
Took tyre off cleaned and put black bead sealer on tyre rebalanced , now back on the car
What a pain .

Hhhhmmm , if they did definitely split them & had a rounded bolt then perhaps they drilled it out & went too far which could cause a air leak

Who do you use in Openshaw?
Not had a wheel refurbed in donkeys years! (Well over a decade or so)
I've no idea who to use for my 107s in the Manchester or even the North West area.

Diamond wheels aren't upto much either...

Wheel specialist is in openshaw, near Smithfield market ..

Always great quality, but cost around £10 a wheel more than your standard wheel refurb

More than worth it..

Thanks,

I get it now they are called "The Wheel Specialist" at first I though you were effectively saying "there's a wheel specialist in Openshaw".
Sorry for being a dumb ass!

I'd say "The Wheel Specialist" is a little bit more expensive than that.. Just had a call in response to my email, they want £125+vat each for my 108's, and that's in "standard colours" Don't mind paying a bit more based on people's recommendations of a job well done, but double what a couple of others have quoted me...
