Look what my son did to my new Z4
I may need a new z4 3.0i manual FSH roadster. Not sure how much money I will have, maybe 6k(ish)
(not sure if I should put the below story and photos somewhere else on here?)
Background
My son, has been living with us for the past 6 months as a fresh start because he was getting in trouble in Lincolnshire when he was living with his mum. Unfortunately, in spite of considerable effort and love shown for him, due to ongoing behavioural issues often involving the police and some stealing from us, we were forced to kick him out over a week ago.
Event
In the early hours of Sunday morning, entirely unprovoked my son Max, decided to turn up at our house, hurling abuse toward me. He then proceeded to attack the car and committed a number of criminal damage acts including with neighbours by pulling off post boxes stealing flower pots, so he could do more damage to my car. I could have potentially gone out and stopped him, however in light of his drunk and violent demeanour, I knew I wouldn’t be able to do this without someone getting hurt and, most likely I would end up in trouble as well.
After the first few major hits, the car was severely damaged, equally he was starting to become aggressive toward neighbours who were coming out to see what was going on, including an elderly lady. I had remained within the house looking out, but once this happened I did step out to get between him and the lady, however I thought it best that he continue to direct his anger toward the car rather than anyone else (he is 6’5” so though I can probably handle him one on one, not so easy to ensure others don’t get hurt in the mayhem). Additionally we live fairly remotely, so I needed to keep him there and busy until the police arrived, so felt him directing his anger in this way, kept people from harm, while keeping him there long enough for the police to arrive.
This was an attack on me, he knew I loved the car and wanted to hurt me. I am absolutely devastated as in spite of the very short time I have owned her, I have loved every minute. She is now with the insurers and presently I have no idea whether she will be fixed or written off, but will let you know once I do. My son was taken into custody and has been bailed with the conditions that he cannot come to the village or contact us. He had also threatened to kill me, subsequently Claire is very afraid, especially as we have a 15 year old in the house, however we are hoping this fact will keep him away in future, fingers crossed. Had it been just me, maybe I would have handled things differently, but in light of loved ones, I had to play it this way.
Outcome
Got to wait for the insurance for a decision on whether they are going to fix it, but I have a feeling it may be beyond repair. Assuming this is the case, will be needing a new roadster. FYI I bought this car from Tcochrane92, another member on here, so had to email and tell him first - Naturally, he is equally gutted, if not more as he thought it was going to a good home - so did I.

What a nightmare for you all, I don't think there's much chance of that being repaired under insurance
I hope he stays away from now on.

Thanks Rob, me too.
Is presently on bail with instructions not to come to village or contact us. I was debating whether to get an old banger for a couple of months just in case. Claire my partner insists no, I should replace it soonest and, that we should not allow someone's awful behaviour to be allowed to affect us or our lives.
I'm not sure, but am leaning toward Claire and soldiering on (I loved that car!!!!)

Wow, what a shock this must have been for you and your's. I suppose you did the right thing by not getting in there, I don't think I could have kept my hands to myself though. Hope you get sorted out ok, it does look like a write off.

Thanks Udspie,
Yeah, had it been someone I didn't know, I would most likely of waded in. With your son, well what do you do.
Reluctantly now looking for a replacement, assuming they do write it off. Already started asking me lots of silly questions, can't help feeling they're just trying to find ways to potentially pay me less, but probably just me being paranoid after a tough couple of days.
Just for extra salt in the wound, have only had her two months and, have paid out another approx £900 during this time getting her tip top

Absolute nightmare Looking at those rocks, I think you made the right decision not intervening. Had he directed one of those towards you, you may not be here to tell the tale. If there is an upside to this, nobody was hurt in the incident.

That would do my head in. Can't imagine what your thoughts are. I can't see the insurance fixing it either. All I can say is that was a sad day.
Look to the future.

I bet you're more hurt by your sons actions.... I feel for you buddy, and having 2 kids myself, it would devastate me if they behaved that way. I still would have chinned him though.
Good luck for the future search, and I bet the new z4 will be even nicer. If it's written off (which, sadly, I think it will be), buy it from the ins company, and get money back selling engine , gearbox and other bits to recoup some money. Good luck dude.

Yeah still processing here, not sure how to think about it. Guess it will all sort itself out, but yes, really sad day and definitely speechless.
I should be excited about looking for a new car, but feeling kinda guilty for the old one.
Thanks for all your support guys, means a lot right now

Thanks maxman. I think will be sometime before I allow him near the rest of the family again. He has opted not to be part of it through his actions, so need to protect everyone else by keeping him away now.
