3.0 wanted or swap for 123d

Post by TALBOTL » Sun May 14, 2017 10:01 pm

Evening all

I currently have a space grey 2010 e82 123d 72,500 (will increase as it's used daily)

Remapped by P Torque in Wolverhampton to 260bhp and 345ft lbs (clutch and component friendly) easily touches 50mpg on my 30 mile commute with traffic, not much comes close to it on a performance to running cost comparison unless you're spending a fair bit of a cash!

Getting married in August so as a result looking to free up a chunk of cash to help, toyed with a 350z but the running costs look crazy compared to the Z4

Anyway I'm looking for a 3.0i or SI spending £6k max mileage of 75k, in terms of spec xenons are something I would really like as well as a better sound system, other than that I'm really not bothered about anything else!

If anybody is interested or has anything for me, just drop me a PM or a message on 07540600four27

Small world OP - I had a 123d for over 6 years before I bought my first Z4 Coupe three years ago.

All I can say is I don't plan to ever have another diesel!

Good luck with your quest.

Thank you Mr T, I do love the 123d managed 53mpg this morning on my commute through 4 slow moving villages and a small stretch of country road, not many cars with similar performance that can match that!

I think I'll be the same, my uncle has the Z3 3.0i and the noise is something else, you soon forget the diesel clatter!

I don't think I would have pre remap, I will definitely miss it now it's given me another 5-7 mpg on my commute and the performance is very good, the Z will definitely have the edge on sound and driver involvement!

It walks away from my Uncle's Z3!

That 3.0i straight 6 sound track will stop you from missing it, the diesel 123d's sound pants IMO

You will suffer a bit with the MPG side of things but drivability, sound, and the fact it will rev out above 5k will soon help you forget, also the fact you wont have to worry about the silly N47 timing chain issue too! :driving:

Gives us a fair comparison when you change over :)

Can't help on the offer front but interestingly I also had a 123d coupe (remapped to 260bhp) between Zeds.

The top gear pull was quite comical (probably even better than my remapped 35i) but in all other situations I really did not enjoy the car. Good luck with the search, once you're back in a straight six you'll forget the diesel non-sense ;).

They are great motors, just going to take some getting used to I drive my uncle's Z3 3.0i a lot and always change about 4k rpm completely forgetting there is a lot more to go! It's also accepting the torque trickery as most things I drive now feel slower even though they aren't!

I miss the noise and smell of petrol though.

Surprised to see 4 former 123d owners on this thread!

I really liked my 123d, but don't miss the tractor sound-track!

Hopefully you will find a Z4 soon OP, then you need to resist the urge to change up at 4,000 rpm and head for the red-line as that is where it starts to get interesting.
